The Ice Rink at The Standard Returns!
The Standard Ice Rink has returned for its second year, officially open as of yesterday, November 21st. The 3,000 square foot ice rink located in the front plaza of The Standard, New York is a neighborhood destination and the perfect way to keep warm during the cold months. Grab a seat after skating and enjoy the Apres Skate menu, featuring sweet and savory crepes, hot seasonal drinks, soups and more.
Ice rink admissions cost $12 and skate rentals cost $3 per pair. The ice rink will also feature scheduled hockey tournaments and skating lessons ($25 per half hour); visit standardhotels.com to be kept up to date.

The Dream Downtown
Major congratulations to the Dream Downtown Hotel on their soft opening this past Wednesday. The hotel, whose entrance is located on 16th Street off of 9th Avenue, kicked off its soft opening period with a series of high profile private events, showcasing its bars, pool and lobby. The Dream Downtown is made up to two towers of rooms, one on 16th Street and one on 17th Street, with a partially glass bottomed pool in the courtyard between the towers, sitting above the lobby. The hotel has also opened with a top floor lounge and roof deck, offering stunning views and a prime vantage point of Empire State Building. Yesterday, the NY Times profiled The Liberty Inn, a small triangular shaped hotel on 14th Street next to the West Side Highway in the Meatpacking District-- known for short romantic stays. The Liberty Inn has stood on this small secluded block since 1969, and offers room rates starting at 2 hours for $60. NY Times brings light to this unknown hotel, uncovering the staff's pride on their cleanliness and encouragement of romantic adventures.
