Contest Details:
- Take a picture in the Meatpacking District that represents your love for the area and tweet it at @MeatPackingNY using the hashtag #OPENMARKET.
- We encourage your image to incorporate the businesses participating in OPEN MARKET!
- You must be 18 or older to enter the contest and 21 to drink at the event. The contest winner will be chosen based on creativity and will be announced Monday, March 11, 2013.

Ascension at Gansevoort Plaza

The Whitney Museum of American Art is celebrating its move to the Meatpacking District with a series of installation and exhibits in the neighborhood, called "Whitney on Site: New Commissions Downtown". This week, an installation and performance titled "Ascension" will debut in Gansevoort Plaza from Thursday July 7th to Saturday July 9th.
Ascension is a choreographed dance performance centered around a twenty one foot rotating ladder. Elizabeth Streb choreographed the performance, which will be performed by 9 dancers from her STREB Extreme Action Company.
Gansevoort Plaza is located at 9th Avenue and Little West 12th Street, and performances will occur at 3pm and 5pm this Thursday through Saturday. Check out the Whitney Museum's website here for more details about the performance.

Make Music NY June 21st

Yesterday, "Make Music NY" sponsored over 100 different pop-up musical performances throughout NYC, all day long. From pianos left of the street for anyone to play, to two quintets of instruments playing from the outdoor balconies of the NY Stock Exchange, the city was fully of music. In the Meatpacking District, conductor Kent Tritle led over 100 people along with soloists in a chorus in Gansevoort Plaza for an hour. Check out details from the NY Post here.

Make Music NY 2011

Make Music NY, the annual day-long celebration of music throughout NYC is happening this year on Tuesday, June 21st.
Come check out "Mass Appeal Mass" where acclaimed conductor Kent Tritle will lead a chorus to perform Mozart's Coronation Mass and selections from Handel's Messiah in the middle of Gansevoort Plaza, located at Gansevoort Street and 9th Avenue. The Chorus will sing from 6:30 - 7:30pm, and anyone is invited to come and sing along. Spring Break @ The Collective
In celebration of Spring Break, The Collective at 1 Little West 12th Street will begin a week long celebration tomorrow night. Tuesday March 8th will be the first night of a week long celebration featuring DJ's, drink specials and give aways. More info at The Collective's website.
