Membership levels and benefits
Benefits of Membership
As a business or property owner in the Meatpacking District, you are part of a community. Businesses locate here because of the creative dynamic that flourishes within these blocks. With the continuous growth of the neighborhood, there has never been a better time to join the membership of more than 200 restaurants, retailers, corporate entities, other area businesses and local property owners. Membership dues are an investment in your neighborhood and your business, and are tax deductible. Your dues enable MPIA’s marketing efforts for the district and assist in covering the cost of the rejuvenation, maintenance and management of our neighborhood’s public plazas. The betterment of the plazas increases the desirability of the area, creating a great appeal and designating areas for neighbors, employees and visitors to gather, sit and engage in the area that our businesses already call home. It’s a proven fact that the longer patrons stay in any given area, the more money they spend there.
As a member, you will be invited to participate in this year’s world-class roster of events, gain exposure for your business and have a voice in the community.
If you operate on the ground floor and/or are open to the public, your business is eligible for placement on MPIA’s RED MAP, a neighborhood staple and a visitor’s must- have. In addition, all members will be featured on our dynamic and interactive website, ensuring visitors to the neighborhood know exactly where you are and what you do. Check it out at: www.meatpacking-district.com. For building owners, the map and MPIA’s website are great promotional tools to market the neighborhood to prospective tenants.
Membership in 2012 includes:

- Cross Promotional Program – The MPIA will help match you to another member and develop a cross promotion and work with you to design and distribute the promotion.
- Window Decal - Show your Meatpacking District pride through the MPIA window decal (in partnership with Foursquare).
- Advocate - The MPIA will monitor proposed bills and legislation that may affect your businesses and our community. We will inform and educate you, so that you can take thoughtful, articulate positions to protect your best interests.
- Community Liaison - The MPIA provides ways to participate in the community, to link your organization with ways to give back, and get involved. We leverage our relationships with local electeds and the Community Boards and can act as a direct link to them for your business.
There is no better way to increase the productivity of your business than to get the word out about the great things you are doing. The MPIA is the conduit that makes networking with your neighbors easier. It also provides you with international exposure through special events, a clean and safe neighborhood for shoppers to spend time and a marketing and PR platform for the district.
Membership dues are used to maintain the MPIA operations, sustain maintenance operations of the public plazas and allow for successful marketing, PR and event production that brand our District.
