Two of the most dynamic women in art and fashion, Ashley Longshore and Diane von Furstenberg, are joining forces to celebrate extraordinary women in history and partner on a curated art collection for International Women’s Month.
During a fateful meeting over tea in London in Fall 2018, von Furstenberg had the idea to curate a collection of Longshore’s art to promote their love of inspirational women throughout time. The two developed a list of powerful and brave women, past and present, that have changed the course of history over many generations.
Diane von Furstenberg is proud and eager to reveal Ashley Longshore’s gallery and exhibit her roster of inspirational women to the community. Longshore’s contagious enthusiasm and irrefutable talent was impressive to the brand’s founder and made the decision to open the space to Ashley’s creations particularly easy.
Longshore painted 37 extraordinary portraits of women including Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Jackie Kennedy, Marlene Dietrich, Cleopatra, Oprah, Gloria Steinem, Whitney Wolfe Herd, Elizabeth Taylor, Nina Simone, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks and Jane Goodall, among others. She incorporated several of von Furstenberg’s heritage prints and her most celebrated designs into the paintings. This collection marks the first time Longshore is presenting work without bedazzling, sparkle or resin.
The curated art collection will be unveiled on March 7, 2019 for International Women’s Month and will live in Diane von Furstenberg’s flagship store on 874 Washington Street through May 2019. All of Ashley’s art will be available for purchase on-site.
