Join us at Samsung 837 for a Galaxy Gaming Session in partnership with Black Girls Code (@blackgirlscode), a non-profit organization that introduces computer coding to young women from underrepresented communities. In an attempt to grow the number of women of color working in technology, they provide classes that teach girls programming languages such as Scratch and Ruby on Rails.
Start with a thoughtful panel moderated by Jacqueline Smalls, Vice President of Chapter Programs at Black Girls CODE. Jacqueline has spent over a decade in K-12 education, holding several leadership positions at Discovery Education, and is a National STEM Consultant. She will be joined by Akua Harris (@astylishjedi), founder of When Geeks Travel, and part of the Black Girl Gamers elite team; and Joynisha Sumpter (@megumiaraki), Software Engineer at High 5 Games. Together, they will explore topics such as social media ethics, online safety, and bringing communities together through technology and gaming.
Then, head into open gameplay on the Notebook Odyssey Z, the Galaxy Note10 series, and Xbox. Enjoy complimentary snacks and light refreshments from the Cellar Bar.
