10 Best Things To Do In Meatpacking For Spring
March 21, 2022
Spring is (finally) here! Here are the top 10 things to do in Meatpacking when the weather’s warmer.
Walk the High Line – The blooms on the High Line are a welcome sight after a long winter. Start at the Gansevoort Street entrance and stroll your way along the park to take in all the flora and fauna.
Little Island – The park has been open for less than a year, so it will be Little Island’s first spring! Pack a blanket on a warm day and head over to take in the scenery.
Sit + work outside under an umbrella in Meatpacking’s Plazas – The umbrellas will be back on the plaza on March 30th! It’s always the best time of the year when Meatpacking’s umbrellas come back to the plazas. Pro tip: Bring your laptop to enjoy free public wifi in Meatpacking and work from the plazas.
Visit Day’s End – The Whitney’s Day’s End located in Hudson River Park across from the museum is the perfect place to catch a sunset along the Hudson on warm nights.
Have a coffee outside – Take your morning coffee meeting or coffee break outside with outdoor seating at Terremoto, Kobrick, Starbucks Reserve Roastery, and Day Drinks.
Rooftops – Rooftop season is back as soon as the first warm and sunny day hits NYC. For great Meatpacking rooftops, check out Brass Monkey, The Gansevoort, Le Bain, STK Rooftop, The Studio at the Whitney, and PHD at the Dream Hotel.
Eat Sushi on a Rooftop – Speaking of rooftops, did you know that The Gansevoort has an omakase sushi experience located on the top of the hotel? Enjoy dinner outside with 360-degree views of the skyline.
Take lunch outside at Chelsea Market – With over 200+ seats outside of the market, Chelsea Market is the perfect place to take a lunch break outside.
See Fernando Botero’s Sphinx – For a limited time only, Fernando Botero’s monumental Sphinx is on display at 14th Street + Ninth Avenue. The eight-foot-tall sculpture will be in Meatpacking until April 19th celebrating the artist’s 90th birthday.
Bike to the district – Oonee arrived in the neighborhood safe + secure bike storage. Temporarily located at 14th Street + Ninth Ave, Oonee is designed as a solution to the city’s lack of smart, attractive, and secure bike parking. If you’re headed to Meatpacking on two wheels, sign up for Oonee to secure your bike HERE.
