Discover Exceptional Long Island Chenin Blanc
September 14, 2015
Paumanok Vineyards
North Fork, Long Island
We have long been fans of this stand-out producer on the North Fork of Long Island, but were recently reminded how great their wines are after Eric Asimov, famed New York Times wine critic, wrote an article featuring outstanding Chenin Blanc producers in the US, and named Paumanok among only a handful.
Chenin Blanc (native to the Loire Valley, France) is uncommonly grown in the US and currently, Paumanok is the ONLY producer growing the grape on Long Island. The grape is remarkably at home on LI due to similarities in climate and soil composition to the Loire Valley. Paumanok is a true family run business with more than 3 decades of winemaking history and a distinct focus on producing top quality fine wines. We urge you to try their wines and support this exceptional local producer.
Paumanok Chenin Blanc 2014
Fresh, crisp, and racy with aromas of grapefruit and pineapple, and subtle notes of melon, apple and guava. An excellent companion for various fish, seafood and oysters.
