Business Affiliation + Title: Jay Godfrey, Retail Director
What do you do, and how did you get here?
I am the Retail Director as well as an Account Executive for Jay Godfrey! I have been with the company for four years and have been with the store since the early planning stages. I have been working in the NY fashion industry since 2008.
What do you love about Meatpacking?
Everything! Meatpacking is the quintessential New York experience from dining, shopping, sightseeing to people watching. There is so much energy, charm, and excitement in the neighborhood and it is a stop everyone wants to make whether locals or tourists.
If you only had 15 minutes, how would you spend it in the district?
Picking up a Margherita slice at Luzzo’s in Gansevoort market and then enjoying it up on The High Line, taking in the views.
If you had a few hours to kill in the district, how would you spend the time?
Dining outside at Dos Caminos on fresh guacamole and a margarita or Bodega Negra if it was Taco Tuesday! Followed by a trip to the Whitney Museum!
Where do you go in Meatpacking to escape?
Kava Cafe. Delicious drink and food items minus the chelsea market type crowds.
What’s your favorite people watching spot?
Gansevoort Plaza during lunch time or pretty much anytime I am walking through the neighborhood. Meatpacking is not an area to keep your head down or rush through, you never know what you will see!
What’s your most memorable Meatpacking moment?
The opening day of the Jay Godfrey store. It was so exciting to see so many people so excited about the store and our new home in the district.
