Fall Fashion with Trina Turk
September 12, 2019
With NYFW coming to a close, we spoke with Francis Luna, the manager at Trina Turk in Meatpacking, on what he’s most looking forward to this season, what’s out, and much more. Read on for his fall fashion tips and be sure to stop by the store and say hello to this colorful personality of the neighborhood.
How did you start working at Trina Turk?
I was fortunate to meet the Director of Retail & HR Director a year ago, and it was love at first sight! I have always loved to work for strong, artistic & influential women. Trina Turk is all of the above!
What’s In/What’s Out…What are you over?
I will forever love print on print, florals all year round, and a graphic anything.
What’s the trend from 2019 you wish would die?
All things embellished. As a consumer, nothing is more frustrating than buying a “special piece” you simply fall in love for but you cannot dry clean, hand wash…Anything!
What’s your day to night piece, best transitional piece?
Traditional black overcoat. Edgy with jeans and a t-shirt. Sophisticated for events, special occasions or just a nice dinner.
What is one piece you can’t live without?
I cannot live without a pair of Black Combat style boots!
Who is your style inspiration and why?
Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen’s vision for The Row. Simple, Chic. Timeless
Favorite fashion week hangout?
You can catch me at Le Bain.
What was your first piece of designer clothing/accessory?
My first designer purchase was a pair of Black Versace Sunglasses. I was 13 years old, and felt like I was taking over the world!
What’s trending in Meatpacking? What do you love about the fashion scene in Meatpacking?
Nothing is trending in Meatpacking… And that is what I love! We have the most amazing group of designers and labels, everyone speaking a different dialect… But the same language; FASHION.
What makes working in Meatpacking special/unique?
The neighborhood is still so new, but developing rather quickly. Working here is like being part of a cult. Only the coolest get in.
