Live music lovers rejoice!
June 24, 2016
Gansevoort Meatpacking is excited to announce that our music series is back for the summer with performances by exciting up-and-coming musicians. To kick off the series we invited alt-pop songstress Vérité, who has garnered buzz from major publications including Glamour, Harpers Bazaar and more, to serenade us with her mesmerizing hooks and harmonies.
After starting off the afternoon filming a few songs from her new collection of work, ‘Living EP’ in our Secret Garden for BalconyTV, Vérité took to the stage in the Loft to showcase her dark but gorgeous harmonies with tracks like ‘Underdressed’ and ‘Constant Crush.‘
And though she has plenty of experience wowing the masses at large scale festivals, including Lollapalooza and Firefly, Vérité’s contrastingly intimate performance at Gansevoort Meatpacking was absolutely a treat for both her fans and those discovering her music for the first time. Against an unforgettably bright sunset as her backdrop, Vérité’s sound echoed throughout the rooftop and beyond as guests danced into the night.
We caught up with Vérité after the show to ask her a few questions about her music and her thoughts on our beloved Meatpacking District:
Describe your music in five words.
Driving, Dynamic, Left, Dark, Pop
What/Who motivated you to start a career in music?
Creating an initial body of work I was proud of.
How do you feel about smaller, more intimate performances, like the BalconyTV x Gansevoort Meatpacking, show you did?
I think it’s an amazing opportunity to interact with people more closely and show a different side of the project.
How do you want your audience to feel when they listen to your music?
Anything. I don’t care what anyone ever feels, I just hope to evoke some sort of emotion.
Do you have a favorite spot in the Meatpacking District?
I really love Chelsea Market. I like having choices.
What’s the one song you would want to listen to while you walk across The High Line?
“Crack Baby” by Mitski
