NYE IN MTPK
December 19, 2019
Out with the old and in with the new, hello 2020! There’s nothing quite like New Year’s in New York City. Whether you’re wanting to party all night to watch the first sunrise of the year or have a low key dinner with friends, Meatpacking has all the options to welcome in the new decade.
For the Glitz and Glam
This neighborhood is not shy of glitter, glitz, and all-out glam. Here’s where you need to go if you’re looking for the full shebang on NYE.
Top of the Standard – Can’t beat the view, the vibe, or the drinks here. Don your black tie and celebrate New Year’s Eve with a glitzy night out, DJs all night, a countdown and performance by the iconic Sister Sledge.
Intersect by Lexus – The restaurant-in-residence Mishiguene is celebrating NYE the Argentine way. The night will feature 6 courses and wine pairings from Catena Wines – and in true New Year’s Eve fashion, expect festivities and the ball drop.
Bagatelle – A lavish roaring 20’s themed New Year’s Eve awaits you at Bagatelle with music from DJ Stan Courtois. In true Bagatelle fashion, champagne will be flowing throughout the night.
Fig + Olive – Make your last night of 2019 memorable and enjoy an extravagant New Year’s Eve Chef’s Tasting Dinner Party, featuring a 4-course seated prix fixe dinner, a champagne toast at midnight, festive decor and music, party favors + more.
Buddakhan – The DJ will keep the energy at a max through a midnight toast, while guests can enjoy Buddakan’s full menu or indulge in a special tasting for two.
Le Atelier + Le Club – If you’re looking for a Michelin star meal, snag a reservation at L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon for a night of indulgence. Go on the earlier side for a four course tasting menu, or book later for an eight course meal. To top it off, enjoy DJs, dancing, and a champagne toast.
Catch Roof – Did someone say open bar? On NYE, Catch will host a Roaring 20’s themed New Year’s Eve soiree that will feature an open bar from 9pm to midnight and a live feed of the ball drop.
For the Low-key NYE
If high heels, crowds, or all out bashes are not your thing. This list is for you. Grab a few of your closest friends and snag a table for a nice dinner out on the town complete with champagne.
Bubby’s – Fried chicken and unlimited champagne. Need we say more? Plus it’s only $65 a person. Yes 2020!
The Wild Son – You won’t find a special menu for NYE here, but you will find a cozy place to curl up with a good margarita and healthy-ish food to start your new year on the right foot.
Helen’s – New to the nabe this year, Helen’s is a chic-subterranean bar located on Ninth Avenue. Come here for a good cocktail, and a space that will transport you to another place.
Pastis – With its much anticipated comeback this year, Pastis still remains a neighborhood staple. While the menu will be relatively the same for New Year’s Eve, there’s a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. As always, Pastis is THE place for people watching.
For the night in
Going out on the busiest night of the year is not for everyone. Here’s some ideas to make your own festive evening at home.
Dickson’s Farmstand Meats – Pick up a beautiful, locally raised porterhouse for a decadent night in.
Little West Wines– Because no New Year is complete without champagne, obviously. Whether you’re toasting at home or going to a friends, stop by Little West Wines for a wide array of champagne and a friendly staff to help you pick out the perfect bubbly.
Lobster Place – The name says it all. Stop by and pick out a lobster to take your NYE night in to the next level.
For the morning/afternoon after
Let’s face it. New Year’s resolutions start January 2, not the 1st. When you wake up with a hangover and a day off, hit up some recovery brunch spots for hair of the dog.
Santina Brunch – Eggs, pasta, cecina, and a cocktail are all you need to survive for New Year’s Day brunch.
Bagatelle Hangover Brunch – Start the day at the Hangover Brunch featuring music by DJ Stan Courtois and menu staples such as the truffle pizza, croque madame with Parisian ham, and homemade truffle gnocchi. If you’re bold enough, stay for Bagatelle’s new Wednesday night event Je Ne Sais Quoi, an elevated dinner party complete with Can-Can dancers.
The Chester’s Reset + Recovery Brunch – This brunch comes complete with B12 boosts provided by IVDrips.
