Pride Guide
June 27, 2019
This weekend marks the celebration of World Pride and Stonewall 50. Don your best rainbow apparel and come to the Meatpacking District to celebrate the neighborhood’s colorful past and nod to the future. Here’s what’s happening:
WHAT TO DO
Headed to the Pride march on Sunday? Release your inner drag persona with makeovers by a special makeup artist who will be in the Dream Hotel lobby prior to the march for all of the glitter, glam, and color you could possibly imagine. Whether you want to go full drag alter ego or simply paint on a few fun rainbow stripes, get into the spirit before the celebration kicks off.
Colorful installations, panels + festivities at the Airbnb Pop-Up
Celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community of NYC through an array of events and programming inspiring intergenerational connection. Think drag queen storytelling for kids, and LGBTQ+ flea market, Kiki’s with Louie, and more. All events are FREE and open to the public.
In support of Pride Month, rag + bone is donating 20% of PRIDE t-shirt sales to The Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth. Stop by the rag + bone Meatpacking location on June 29 for a special event and preview the window display in collaboration with artist Jason Naylor.
Camp out at The Standard’s No Pool for a special Pride edition bingo.
According to Brass Monkey join “hundreds of the World’s hottest men in NYC” to celebrate the Pride with the International Bear community and friends with three floors of “frisky fun”.
Blackbarn Cafe + Bar will be hosting the drag queen Lola, on June 30 in celebration of WorldPride day. Lola will be entertaining throughout brunch, including the performance of several songs. Additionally, they are extending a complimentary drink for all patrons who post on a social media platform and tag @blackbarncafeandbar, on both June 29 and 30.
End the weekend on a high note
Ruffle your feathers and dance the night away with Christina Visca’s and David Morales “Birdcage!”
TASTE THE RAINBOW
There’s no shortage of tasty rainbow themed treats this weekend.
Bagel maven Melissa Weller of High Street on Hudson is baking up rainbow bagels all weekend long.
Baby I Was Churned this way is a salty hazelnut ice cream studded with chocolate-covered rainbow-colored sunflower seeds served all month long at Ample Hills Creamery. For every prepackaged pint purchased this month, $1 will go to Brooklyn Pride.
The Chester’s Berry Prideful Punch and Rainbow Rose Sangria will leave you buzzed and ready to take on the parade.
A colorful future is in store for you with Tao’s Pride Fortune cookie, served this weekend only, June 28 – 30.
Have guests coming into town this weekend for World Pride? Show them some love and give a taste of New York, with a basket from Chelsea Market Baskets.
Feed your Pride and feel the love with Rainbow Tacos and live entertainment at Dos Caminos all weekend. A portion of the Rainbow Taco proceeds will benefit The Ali Forney Center.
